The tube sheet functions as a crucial supporting component in both heat exchangers and boilers. It garners its name from the meticulously arranged tubes that puncture it in a specific pattern. This arrangement enables the fluid within the tubes to circulate in and out of the heat exchanger.

Within the shell, the fluid passing through the tubes conducts heat exchange with another fluid that flows into the shell but traverses around the exterior of the tubes, facilitating heat exchange with the tube-enclosed fluid.
